Volkswagen Tiguan Concept

Volkswagen has revealed their latest compact 4x4, the Concept Tiguan, at the Los Angeles Auto Show. It is expected that the first customers of the SUV will be able to purchase the vehicle by the end of next year. The Tiguan was first revealed earlier this year at the Concept A debut in Berlin. The name of the model was then decided in July after a poll of over 350,000 readers of AutoBild magazines. With the unveiling in Los Angeles, the Tiguan is one step closer to production. The Concept Tiguan has an exterior design that is inspired by the 'baby Touareg' Concept A. Measuring 4.4 meters long, 1.85 meters wide, and 1.69 meters high, its size is similar to the Touran compact MPV (4.4 m, 1.8 m, 1.6 m). The designer behind the car, Klaus Bischoff explained that “It was very important for us to have the car appear powerful and muscular. For us that was a higher priority than anything else. An off-roader needs a long hood and an upright position. That lends the vehicle self-assuredness and power.” The Concept Tiguan's design is recognizable as Volkswagen's, yet different to all the existing models. Its front grille has a dark-anodised metallic tone, contrasting the body colour, and is accompanied by a grid pattern and two dominant cross fins to the left and right of the Volkswagen roundel.
