Volkswagen CrossGolf
The new Volkswagen CrossGolf is making its world premiere at the 2010 Geneva Motor Show, introducing an updated design, refined TDI and TSI engines, and new features. Alongside the classic
Golf, Golf Plus,
Golf Variant,
Golf GTI, and
Golf R revealed only a few weeks prior, the VW range now covers six distinct models, each sharing components from an innovatively designed modular toolkit. As with the original
CrossGolf, the new model is based on the Golf Plus, combining the variations of an MPV with the ruggedness of a SUV. Consumers will also benefit from the elevated seating position in all the vehicles.
Euro-5 engines: pioneeringly economical TDI and TSI
The new CrossGolf will be on sale in selected markets from April 2010. Buyers will find the five-door car equipped with a generation of fuel efficient engines, all direct-injection turbocharged petrol and diesel systems. An example is the Golf Cross 1.4 TSI with 118 kW / 160 PS offering an output of 240 Newton-metres from just 1,500 rpm; the maximum speed is 207 km/h, while combined fuel consumption is 6.8 litres (159 g/km CO2). Other TSI models include the 77 kW / 105 PS and 90 kW / 122 PS variants.
