Volkswagen EcoRacer Prototype
At the Tokyo Motor Show (22 October to 6 November) Volkswagen will be introducing a groundbreaking sports car prototype that could set the standard for its class. The EcoRacer is powered by a 100-kW turbo-charged diesel of the next generation and is crafted from carbon fibre to reduce weight. It averages an incredible 3.4 litres for 100 km, with a top speed of 230 kph and 0-100 km/h time of 6.3 seconds.
As far as design goes, the EcoRacer impresses with its new sports-car front end, LED headlamp and rear-light systems, tight proportions and powerful lines. It measures 3.77 metres long, 1.74 metres wide, and 1.21 meters high, with a wheelbase of 2.48 metres and very short front and rear overhang. Even with its austere economy, it is truly an eye-catching car.
