Volkswagen Eos
The all-new Volkswagen Eos will make its world debut at the 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show (19 to 28 November, 2010). The global cabriolet coupé has been enhanced with technical developments, updated looks at both the front and rear, and equipped with a range of new features. California was chosen as the ideal place to launch the VW Eos as America is the region with the most sales for the 4-seater vehicle. At the end of March 2011, Volkswagen of America will take the new VW Eos to the streets, while Europe – the Eos’ second biggest market – will release the car mid-January 2011.
Individual engines for America and EuropeAmerican versions of the Volkswagen Eos come with a 2.0-litre TSI engine with 147 kW / 200 PS and a 6-speed DSG. In Europe, customers can choose from 3 TSI direct-injection turbo petrol engines and 1 TDI direct-injection turbodiesel. Power outputs range from 90 kW / 122 PS to 155 kW / 210 PS for the TSI engine, while the TDI engine has 103 kW / 140 PS. What's more, the Eos 2.0-litre TDI with BlueMotion Technology and 103 kW / 140 PS is highly efficient, achieving a fuel consumption of just 4.8 l/100 km. This is thanks to the use of BlueMotion Technology, including Stop/Start system and brake energy recovery, which saves 0.7 l/100 km.
New design adds increased elegance and sporting styleThe new look of the Eos complies with Volkswagen’s “design DNA”, characterised by clear, horizontal lines. The radiator grille protector consists of three black struts edged with narrow chrome strips connecting between the new headlights. These can be ordered in halogen (H7) or optional bi-xenon format, while the latter includes 14 LED daytime running lights. An additional option for both types of headlight is the Light Assist main beam assistant. As standard, all models come with fog lamps incorporating cornering lights for improved safety.
