Volkswagen Golf 2004 posters

Volkswagen Golf V GTI [UK]

The Golf V made its impressive debut in 2003 with its laser-welded bodywork and notable 35 percent increase in torsion rigidity. It left many competitors in its class way behind in terms of comfort and dynamic performance. For the first time, side airbags were available on request, adding to the six standard airbags already included (front, side front and window) for a total of eight protective air buffers on board. Through its various features such as a four-link rear suspension, seven-speed DSG, bi-xenon headlights, rain sensor, panoramic sliding sunroof, and turbocharged direct injection petrol engine in the GTI (2004) and world's first twincharger (in the 2006 TSI), the Golf V stood apart in terms of comfort and dynamic performance. It increased its appeal to a wider range of drivers with additions such as the Golf Plus (2006), CrossGolf (2007), and the Golf BlueMotion (2007) with a combined fuel consumption of just 4.5 l/100 km. By the end of production in 2009, a total of 3.4 million fifth-generation units had been produced, amounting to 0.68 million Golf cars annually. The Golf V design The design of the Golf V was meant to reflect its drastic increase in quality, especially with the 80 percent improved static torsional rigidity in the Golf class. Launched in October 2003, the body was larger, safer and even higher quality than before. Expectations were high when compared to the previous generations, and heroes such as Harry Potter and Michael Schumacher set the standard for the large launch.
