Volkswagen Golf GTI Concept 2008 posters

Volkswagen Golf GTI Concept

The iconic Volkswagen Golf GTI Mk I first hit the market in 1976 as a limited-edition addition to the Golf range. Now, five generations and 1.7 million sales later, the sixth generation of the Golf GTI has been unveiled in concept form before its official debut at the Paris Motor Show in 2008. While the core principles of the original - sharp performance, style, and practicality - remain in the new model, state-of-the-art drivetrain and chassis tech further boost its impact. The GTI adopts the strut-type front and multi-link rear suspension from its conventional Golf sibling; however, it has been specially tuned with springs, dampers, and anti-roll bars, as well as the optional Adaptive Chassis Control (ACC) feature. Offering three settings that range from 'comfort' to 'sport', the ACC system will remap the steering and throttle response to provide a smooth ride in urban areas or on highways. For the first time, the new Golf GTI also comes with an electronic limited slip differential (XDS) used in tandem with a sophisticated ESP system to maximize traction and improve responses.
