Volkswagen Jetta [EU]
Volkswagen has redesigned the VW Jetta, a vehicle with nine million-plus units sold worldwide, making it larger at 4.64 metres (+9.0 cm) and filling the gap between the Golf (4.20 metres) and Passat (4.77 metres) more accurately for Europe. The styling is now entirely different from the best-selling compact Golf, giving the Jetta a look of independence as the Eos or Tiguan.
The Volkswagen Jetta offers an attractive combination of features, such as safety, comfort, and style; these usually come with luxury cars at a much higher price point, but the Jetta starts at 20,900 euro. Furthermore, the car has new TDI and TSI engines (maximum fuel economy of 4.2 l/100 km), DSG efficient dual-clutch transmissions, and adequate interior room.
This reconfigured Jetta can potentially reach the same level of success in Europe as it has in the USA, where it is the most successful car of any European carmaker with a yearly sale of up to 110,000 vehicles. This is why Volkswagen presented the American version in June 2010 at Times Square in New York.
