The Volkswagen of America, Inc. has announced the launch of the new 2012 VW Jetta GLI, an ideal combination of the luxurious Jetta and its exceptional performance and styling in a sleek design. The Jetta GLI has its roots dating back to 1984, and is sure to attract both car enthusiasts and regular drivers alike.
This model offers many exclusive features and options at a budget-friendly pricing. The three trims are available with the beginning MSRP of $23,495. The GLI Autobahn model, for an MSRP of $25,545, includes 18" alloy wheels, a sunroof, dual zone climate control, heated V-Tex Leatherette seats and the Fender® Premium Audio System. Topping the lineup is the Jetta GLI Autobahn along with the Navigation package, which adds the RNS-315 navigation system and keyless access with push-button start technology at an MSRP of $26,445.
Engine and Transmission
The impressively sporty Jetta GLI is equipped with award-winning 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder gasoline engine with 200 horsepower as well as 207 lb.-ft. of torque from just 1,700 rpm. It also features the 6-speed manual transmission as standard. The new Jetta GLI is much lighter than its predecessor, providing an unparalleled performance and driving experience. While EPA figures are yet to be revealed, the Volkswagen Jetta GLI is expected to deliver 31 mpg highway with manual and a 32 mpg highway with DSG® automatic.
