It was created by taking a regular New Beetle Convertible and making some bold modifications, such as chopping the top, and redesigning the roof with a U-shape. The standout feature of the Ragster was its silver double stripe paint job. The interior was also redesigned to create a 2+2 seating arrangement with distinctive control dials. An interesting retro feature was that the Ragster's rear-view mirror was mounted to the dashboard, similar to the first Type 1s. The Ragster's profile was lower than the New Beetle's, giving it a unique shape.
