The Volkswagen New Beetle is a car introduced by Volkswagen in 1998, with a design inspired by the original Beetle. It is built at the VW Puebla factory in Mexico, and uses the Volkswagen A platform (Mark 4 Volkswagen Golf) - providing improved performance, safety, and convenience compared to the Classic Beetle. At the 1994 North American International Auto Show, Volkswagen unveiled the J Mays-penned "Concept 1", a cabriolet concept car with futuristic styling reminiscent of the original Beetle.

This limited edition features a transverse-mounted water-cooled I4 engine with 1984 cc; fuel injection (available in both petrol and diesel versions). All four wheels have a disc brake for improved safety.
