Volkswagen Pickup Concept
Volkswagen have recently unveiled their fourth model in the commercial vehicle line-up for the 2008 IAA in Hanover. The all-new Volkswagen Pickup Concept has been designed to establish new standards within the one-tonne pickup class and is set to go into production at the end of 2009. The Volkswagen Group has their eye on markets in Europe, South America, South Africa, and Australia for the vehicle's initial release.
The concept, measuring 5.18 metres in length and 1.9 metres in width, boasts four doors and four seats - making it ideal for both recreational and business use. The powerful yet efficient engine allows it to carry a standard-sized Euro pallet sideways in the flat cargo bed.
The separate 'Search and Rescue' (SAR) vehicle on show at the IAA has been conceptualized following discussions with both the emergency services and in-house emergency vehicle specialists. It is packed with a variety of features such as GPS, a touchscreen infotainment unit, CB radios and binoculars. It has not yet been decided if this 'SAR' model will be produced.
