The 6K Polo Variant was introduced into the range in 1995; it was a rebadged version of the SEAT Cordoba derived from the same platform as the Ibiza Mk II. This platform was also used by the Volkswagen Polo Classic sedan and the Caddy van, and included a number of shared components with the Golf III, such as mechanical parts and suspension.
