Volkswagen is presenting a new member of the Volkswagen Polo family at the 2009 International Motor Show in Frankfurt (IAA, September 17 to 27): the agile Volkswagen Polo 3-door. Its longer doors compared to the five-door version, modified side window styling and streamlined C-pillars give the car an almost coupe-like outline. At its market launch in the Fall of 2009, the stylish and safe Volkswagen Polo 3-door will be offered in six engine versions (from 44 kW / 60 PS to 77 kW / 105 PS) and three equipment variants (Trendline, Comfortline, Highline). The entry-level model will be the Volkswagen Polo 1.2 Trendline with ESP and a price tag of 12,150 Euros. Additionally, the Volkswagen Polo BlueMotion will come in both a three-door and five-door variant; the production model will also be presented at the IAA. This 55 kW / 75 PS engine is the most fuel-efficient car in its class, with a fuel consumption of 3.3 litres diesel per 100 kilometres (equivalent to 87 g/km CO2). Volkswagen intends to establish same kind of success with the Polo as achieved with the Volkswagen Golf. Unmistakable proportions in styling The Volkswagen Polo 3-door is a living example of Volkswagen's new "design DNA" conceived by Group Design Chief Walter de Silva. The brand's distinctive look is a prime feature of the styling – characterised by strong horizontal base surfaces, and clear, precise lines. This strong "La Semplicità" keeps the overall design stark and cohesive.
