Volkswagen Thunder Bunny Concept 2006 posters

Volkswagen Thunder Bunny Concept

Volkswagen has unveiled a concept vehicle that pays homage to its roots in the sport compact tuning community. The story dates back to the early '80s with Bill Neumann, founder of Automotive Performance Systems (APS). Having driven the GTI in Europe, Bill was convinced that it would be well-received in America and thus began a mission to prove that the Rabbit-based performance car was worthy of public attention. His tactics proved successful, and the Thunder Bunny was born. Delivered to Motor Trend magazine in late 1981, the APS-modified Rabbit provoked positive reactions. Road & Track reported a zero to 60-mph run in the low seven-second range, along with slalom times comparable to Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Renault vehicles. It was an achievement which earned the Thunder Bunny prestige and recognition.
