Volkswagen Touareg R50
In a world premiere, Volkswagen will be unveiling the Volkswagen Touareg R50 on October 11 at the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney - offering 258 kW / 350 PS of performance at 3,500 rpm, among the most powerful SUVs in the world. In Germany, the Touareg R50 will cost starting from 88,260 Euro, and arrive in November.
Its turbo diesel engine, derived from the original V10 TDI with 230 kW / 313 PS, gives the R50 a massive 850 Newton-meter at a low 2,000 rpm – enough power for the car to accelerate to 100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds (7.4 seconds without a production car) and reach a top speed of 235 km/h. Furthermore, fuel consumption remains constant at 9.6 liters per 100 km (highway) and 12.6 liters per 100 km (overall).
To match the car's power, the Volkswagen Individual team created a series of exterior and interior features. The distinguishing features include the 21-inch Omanyt type alloy wheels and size 295 tires, blue painted brake calipers, discrete wheel well flares, side skirts and distinctive bumpers (Sport Design Package), as well as a modified radiator grille (in a matte finish chrome). The special color Biscay blue has been a signature of high-powered R models since the first Golf R32, and other colors including Campanella white, Reflex silver, Black Magic and Atacam gray are also available.
Inside, the R50 has a sport seating system in anthracite-colored nappa leather with R50 logo integrated in the headrests and stainless steel tread plates, as well as a light-colored "engine spin" decor and metal worked caps for the accelerator and brake pedals. Additionally, the car has a winter package, the Premium Memory Package, net partition behind the rear seats, a ski sack, and a "Driving dynamics package with adaptive roll compensation" featuring a chassis lowered by twenty millimeter and a stiffer spring rate.
