The Touran is receiving a major update with a new look, modern technologies and a powerful TSI engine. Later this month, the next-generation of the popular van will debut at the Paris Auto Show. It's launch is scheduled for mid November, and the vehicle will be Volkswagen's first to feature their innovative "Park Assist" system – a parking assistant that provides increased accuracy, even in tight spaces.
At first glance, the new Touran is distinguished by its radiant Volkswagen crest in the chrome design radiator grill, new bumper, and state-of-the-art headlights. The optional bi-xenon headlights support its modern design, while the backside updates to the rear lights and the modified bumper bring the new generation to life. Additional interior enhancements and added standard features complete this extensive remake.
Additionally, the new Touran will have two different engine options available. The most powerful is the 1.4 TSI, featuring 125 kW/ 170HP, and the 103 kW/ 140HP motor. Both of these engines come standard with Volkswagen’s DSG transmission system. Starting in spring 2007, the new Van will upgrade to the Twin-Charger 1.4 TSI engine.
Park Assist guides the Touran into that space under 15 seconds
The Touran also introduces their “Park Assist” system, an optional assistant that guides you into a parking space automatically. Simply press a button, drive by the space at speeds of up to 30km/hr, and the ultrasonic sensor array and control unit will detect and calculate the ideal path. On board notifications will tell you the starting position, and then you let the vehicle take over, with the Touran able to park itself in under 15 seconds.
