Volkswagen Up Concept

There are cars that change our world forever. They are symbols of sophistication and innovation, inspiring progress and making daily life more practical and enjoyable. Many of these cars have the Volkswagen logo. From the iconic "Bug, Beetle, New Beetle," to the "T1, Bulli, Samba bus, California," and "Golf, GTI," Volkswagen is streaking ahead yet again with a concept car debuting at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt. This new concept is a small, modern Volkswagen that celebrates its environment. It features an innovative, clear and intuitive design. The car is called up! - a positive name symbolizing a departure, activity, energy and the future. According to Volkswagen Board Member Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, the response from IAA visitors will help determine if the concept has the same potential as the Beetle and Golf. Concept The up! is designed for city life. It seats four people and is perfect for daily errands, university, trips to the beach and weekend getaways. Although it is only 3.45 meters long and 1.63 meters wide, it is surprisingly roomy. It has an engine located at the rear, which maximizes space, atmosphere and style. According to Volkswagen Group Chief Designer Walter de Silva, the up! houses "cleverness and love." It is also an open invitation to the Volkswagen model line, leaving space for more models.
