Volkswagen Up Lite Concept
The world's strongest automotive brand Volkswagen is setting the standards for efficiency everywhere with its high-tech TDI and TSI engines. The German carmaker has presented a progressive and fuel-efficient four-seater with a hybrid drive at the 2009 Los Angeles Auto Show (December 4th to 13th), called the Volkswagen Up! Lite Concept. It has a combined fuel consumption rate of 2.44 l/100 km or 70 mpg/highway, making it the world's most sustainable car. The three-door concept has a TDI (turbo-diesel) engine, electric motor and 7-speed Direct Shift Gearbox (DSG), as well as efficient aerodynamics (Cd value: 0.237), resulting in an impressive CO2 emission of 65g/km. Its overall design is a preview of Volkswagen's future cars in terms of both technology and aesthetics. Volkswagen Up! Lite is light, weighing just 695 kilograms, and many of its components are taken from the New Small Family, a new model series that is set to be released in the end of 2021. The concept is designed to be an ideal car for daily commutes, providing an equal balance of affordability and environmental-friendliness.
