Volvo C70
When it was launched in early 2006, the Volvo C70 stunned the world as the first four-seater convertible with a retractable hard top. Now, after more than three years, the model has been redesigned with a new look when the roof is either up or down. Despite the modifications, the Volvo C70 still retains its key features, such as the three-piece hardtop roof, spacious seating for four adults and safety standards that surpass other convertibles.
Fedde Talsma, Exterior Chief Designer of Volvo Cars, says that "We have carefully redesigned the front and rear of the car so they harmonise more with the larger Volvo models. We have also increased the exclusiveness of the interior materials and trim details to enhance the feeling of luxury."
The Volvo C70 is special in the sense that it can transform from a sports coupe into a full convertible at the press of a button, which makes it two cars in one. The roof takes no more than 30 seconds to raise or lower, allowing for open-air cruising on sunny days. With the unique three-piece metal roof design, bulk is reduced to improve its style and increase storage space.
The Volvo C70 is offered with three trim levels - S, SE and SE Lux - each coming packed with features like Electronic Climate Control (ECC), cruise control and Trip Computer. There are several engine options available such as the 2.4i 170 PS petrol, the 2.4-litre 180 PS turbodiesel D5, the top-of-the-range turbocharged petrol T5 230 PS and a four-cylinder 2.0D 136 PS turbodiesel.
