German tuner and motor sports specialist Heico Sportiv has created an extraordinary high-powered edition of the Volvo S80. Adorned with a contemporary aluminium-look exterior and a punchy 350 hp bioethanol engine, the S80 High Performance Concept will certainly be turning heads at the 2007 SEMA production event in Las Vegas. "When we came up with this project, we wanted to see how powerful we could make the S80. Heico Sportiv's unbeatable experience in motor sports and Volvo tweaking made them the ideal collaborator," said Lex Kerssemakers, Senior Vice President Brand, Business and Product Strategy from Volvo Cars. He proclaimed: "Personally, I find the finished product to be very impressive - both in design and performance." The turbocharged T6 engine has been altered to use E85 (85% bioethanol, 15% petrol) - a renewable fuel that is fast becoming prevalent throughout Europe. The T6 engine in the Heico S80 High Performance Concept produces around 350 horsepower at 5500 rpm and a massive 550 Nm of torque between 1500 and 4000 rpm leading to a 0-100 km/h time of about 5.8 seconds. "The engine tuning hasn't been completed yet, so we intend to have an improved horsepower score by the time the car is ready for SEMA," mentioned Heico Sportiv's president Holger Hedtke.
