Volvo XC70 Surf Rescue Concept
Inspired by the surf rescue vehicles seen around Southern California, the Volvo XC70 Surf Rescue (SR) concept was unveiled to the world at the 2007 Specialty Equipment Market Association tradeshow. Despite the rugged new look, the Volvo XC70 Surf Rescue concept still retains all of the outstanding safety features of the production 2008 model Volvo XC70.
"We set out to make the all-new XC70 the safest vehicle in its segment," declared Ingrid Skogsmo, Director of Volvo Cars Safety Center, "An advanced structural design and smart safety systems such as side airbags and whiplash protection provide formidable occupant protection and our world innovation in child safety will truly make the XC70 stand out."
The XC70 SR's child safety system is a unique combination of an adjustable booster seat and an extended inflatable curtain. It's the leading passenger safety system in the rear seat for Volvo and sets a new bench mark for the industry.
