Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (VCNA) and Legoland® California have teamed up to promote driving safety and family values. They unveiled a replica of Volvo's award-winning SUV, the Volvo XC90, constructed of LEGO's modeling bricks at the New York Auto Show. How many LEGO bricks were used in making this full-size SUV? The answer will be revealed at the vehicle dedication event at Legoland® California on May 1, 2004.
The Volvo XC90 LEGO replica was built by LEGO Master Model Builders, who are part of an elite group of artists who design and maintain LEGO models in many Legoland® Parks across the world. Constructed at the U.S. headquarters for Lego Systems, Inc. in Enfield, Conn., the team began production of the Volvo XC90 in January. The intricate stages of construction were documented with time-lapse photography.
As the leader in vehicle safety, Volvo has official partnership with Legoland® California and will work together to help spread messages of driving safety to the theme park's visitors. This giant LEGO XC90 at the entrance will be a reminder of the two companies' commitment to safety and family.
