Volvo XC90 PUV Concept

Volvo Cars of North America, LLC (VCNA) unveiled the captivating Volvo XC90 PUV Concept at the 2004 Specialty Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA) tradeshow in Las Vegas, Nevada. With its stunning racing red paint scheme, the XC90 PUV is sure to turn heads in the world of high-end European exotic cars. According to Vic Doolan, President and CEO of VCNA, "This was such a fun concept that we just had to do it. It could possibly be the ultimate Volvo. It has all the safety that Volvo is known for with the looks and performance of an exotic car." Although the XC90 PUV will remain a concept, its innovative features make it an intriguing vision of what's to come. Pushing the "Next Generation SUV" to the Next Level The XC90 PUV is a powerhouse, driven by a massive supercharger to reach a whopping 650 horsepower. This uncompromising power is achieved with the help of revised engine mapping and a low restriction exhaust, and is routed to the road via Volvo's Haldex electronically controlled all-wheel-drive system and new 6-speed automatic "Geartonic" transmission. This system is "pre-charged" for instant power to the wheel with the most traction, providing an additional layer of performance while maintaining the Volvo XC90 PUV's superior safety.
