The powerful Volvo XC90 V8 AWD is designed to meet the demands of the competitive SUV segment. Around 30% of SUVs sold in the premium segment have V8 engines, and now Volvo has followed suit with the XC90 to cover the remaining 70% of the market potential.

V8 tailor-made for the XC90
The Volvo XC90 V8 AWD has space-saving features, such as the alternator and starter motor being fitted directly onto the engine, or the secondary chains driving the exhaust camshafts off the inlet camshafts.
In addition, the engine design is tailored to the XC90. The left-hand cylinder is offset half a cylinder ahead of the right hand bank which allows the power unit to fit neatly into the vehicle's structural beam design, thereby boosting safety in the event of a crash.
