The Wiesmann GT is a two-seater coupé that combines classic design with state-of-the-art engineering. It was first revealed to the public at the IAA 2005 in Frankfurt, to great acclaim from the motoring experts. The car was developed with fundamental data from the Wiesmann Racing GT, a prototype that was tested in the 24-hour race at the Nürburgring in 2002.
For the GT model, a larger engine compartment was necessary, so a BMW V8 engine with 4.8L capacity was incorporated. As a result, it grew in all dimensions compared to the Roadster: 3cm taller, 11cm wider, and 37cm longer. The additional length also provided space for a larger 10L fuel tank, totalling 70L to guarantee sufficient range on longer trips. In order to counter the weight increase from the larger engine, an aluminium monocoque was chosen for this vehicle.
The xenon headlights provide good illumination at night, with the rear LED lights giving a clear signal and becoming a signature signature of the Wiesmann GT. With a power-to-weight ratio of 3.41 kg/HP, it is among the leading sports cars of today with optimally positioned seating for driver and passenger.
