Wiesmann Spyder Concept

At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, Wiesmann presented the design study for a two-seater, ultra-purist convertible sports car. Lightweight and powerful, the Wiesmann Spyder Concept is the embodiment of the company's ideals. With a kerb weight of less than 1000 kg, the car can reach 0-100 km/h in less than 4s and has an estimated top speed of 290 km/h. This impressive performance is provided by a 420-hp V8 engine that has a capacity of 4 liters. The Spyder has no doors or windscreen and is the most extreme car ever designed by Wiesmann. Taking cues from Wiesmann's early designs but with the sophistication that comes from the brothers' collective experience, the Spyder is a tribute to customer demand for an ultra-purist model. The success of the car is now in the hands of Geneva experts and Wiesmann's fans. General Manager Friedhelm Wiesmann remarked on the concept: "We want to test the marketability of such cars in Geneva. The feedback of customers, partners and experts will have a real influence on the decision to produce the Spyder." If it does become a production model, it won't be until 2012.
