The company was established in 2006 by Klaus Dieter Frers. Despite the fact that in 2012, Artega filed for bankruptcy, it has managed to introduce numerous know-how and advanced technologies. All their ideas were bought by Volkswagen.
For the 6 years of its existence, Artega produced only one car, Artega GT, which was exhibited for the first time at 2007 Frankfurt Auto Show. The car is powered by a VW 300 Hp 3.6 liter V6 direct-injection engine and produces maximum torque of 350 N•m at 2400/min. It can sprint from 0 to 100 km/h in less than 5 seconds. Its top speed is about 270 km/h. In its design, Artega GT has some similar elements with Porsche and Ferrari cars. Artega SE is the electric version of GT, which was presented in 2011. In 2015, Artega introduced two new electric cars, Artega Scalo and the ATV-like Karo.
