The company was created in 1995 in Dorset, England, by Dutch millionaire Klaas Zwart and named after Formula 1 champion Alberto Ascari. In 1998, its first car, the Ascari Ecosse, was presented. In 2000, the company built a new factory in Banbury. In 2003, the company introduced Ascari KZ1, which was released only in 50 copies and, thus, became one of the most exclusive cars in the world.
Besides manufacturing cars, Ascari also owns a racetrack in Ronda in southern Spain, Race Resort Ascari. A 5.5 km track, which was opened in 2002, also includes various recreation zones for its guests not only to drive but also to have a rest. The resort operates a membership based system.
