Audi A8 3.3 TDI quattro

The Audi A8 replaced the V8 model as the German automaker's flagship offering. It competes in the same size and price category as the Volkswagen Phaeton, Jaguar XJ8, and Lexus LS 430; however, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series are regarded as its primary rivals. After its debut in Europe in 1994, the A8 was released in North America in 1997. It is built on Audi's unique D2 platform, an all-aluminum space frame. This innovative structure allowed for a lighter car while still being rigid. Not only was it the world's first car of its kind, but its modern safety features included six interior airbags. In 2001, the A8 was equipped with a 6.0 L W12 engine, a combination of two 3.0 L VR6 units at the crankshaft. A limited run of only 750 of these engines were produced from 2001-2003.
