Cadillac CTSV Race Car

Continuing to express its technical proficiency and top-rated motorsport credentials, Cadillac has unveiled a purpose-built racing version of the CTS-V sport sedan, the most robust variant in the automaker's portfolio. Named the CTS-V race car, it is ready to hit the starting line in the SCCA Speed World Challenge, a high-stakes North American race series for production-based vehicles. “This is a big moment for Cadillac,” said Mark LaNeve, the brand’s general manager. “The CTS-V race car reinforces Cadillac's status as an industry leader in luxury performance.” Produced in tandem with the new GM Performance Division, the first car to don the “V-series” high-performance badge is constructed out of 73 percent production-level parts. This includes the all-aluminum V-8 engine, front and rear suspension, steering system, differential, and driveshafts shared with its street-legal sibling. “What motivates us in this project is taking an outstanding production car and making it even more extraordinary,” said GM Racing chief Doug Duchardt. “The CTS-V race car already has a pedigree of excellence. Through our team’s hard work, we expect to rise to the top soon.” The vehicle comes equipped with a 5.7L overhead valve V-8 engine, generating more than 500 horsepower and 7600 rpm. Fitted with a 25-gallon fuel tank that can take on enough fuel for 50-minute sprints, the car boasts an estimated top speed of 165 mph. Cadillac is prepared to back its race car with a two-car entry in the 12 Hours of Sebring in March 2004. Championship-winning drivers Max Angelelli and Andy Pilgrim will take the wheel of the works cars. The CTS-V race car pays tribute to Cadillac's journey into the exclusive realm of top-notch luxury performance, as it joins its street-legal brother in the product lineup. Along with the CTS sport sedan, the SRX luxury utility, Seville, DeVille, and XLR luxury roadster — not to forget the Escalade, Escalade EXT and Escalade ESV — Cadillac offers an extensive selection of vehicles for the modern driver.
