Chevrolet Corvette CERV III Concept

In 1985, Chevrolet Chief Engineer Don Runkle and Lotus' Tony Rudd collaborated to create a show car that highlighted their engineering skills. This project became the CERV III (Corporate Engineering Research Vehicle III), and it was first displayed at the Detroit Automobile Show in January 1986 as a Corvette Indy prototype. Noteworthy features of the vehicle include 4-wheel drive, 4-wheel steering, CRT cockpit screens, a mid-engine V-8 5.7-liter 32-valve dual-overhead cam LT5 engine, twin turbos, 650 hp, 655 lb-ft torque, and a maximum speed of 225 MPH. The exterior of CERV III (No. 3) was designed by Chief of Chevy III Studio, Jerry Palmer, and it was made of carbon fiber with a fiberglass-finish coating. Estimated prices for the car ranged from $300k-400k and it was equipped with a computer-controlled active suspension system, ABS braking and traction control, six-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel-drive and four-wheel steering. CERV III (No. 3) appears in Test Drive III, also known as the 'Corporate Experimental Research Vehicle'.
