Ford Focus Electric
Ford Motor Company recently launched their first all-electric car, the Ford Focus Electric. This zero-carbon, gasoline-free version of the popular small car from Ford is just the beginning of a broad lineup of hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric vehicle models that are coming to North America and Europe in 2013.
"The Ford Focus Electric is the ideal representation of our goal to provide customers with an expansive selection of eco-friendly vehicles," said Derrick Kuzak, Ford group vice president for Global Product Development. "Not only does it boast remarkable energy efficiency, but it also comes equipped with advanced technologies that allow drivers to optimize fuel usage and enhance their daily commuting experience."
The Ford Focus Electric is slated to debut in late 2011, and is estimated to offer a superior range of mileage than the Chevrolet Volt. Moreover, the recharge time takes only three to four hours on a 240-volt charge station—significantly faster than the Nissan Leaf.
In addition, this new vehicle comes with features like MyFord Touch—a driver connect system optimized for electric cars—as well as value charging powered by Microsoft and the MyFord Mobile app, that allow drivers to access and control their vehicles remotely.
