It produces automobiles and commercial vehicles under Ford brand and luxury cars under the Lincoln brand. It also owns Troller and FPV and has shares in Mazda, Aston Martin and Jiangling car manufacturers.
Ford is the second largest American and the fifth largest world automaker, according to the investigation of car sales. Moreover, it occupies the fourth place in the world by the amount of released cars during the whole period of its existence.
Ford’s logo is called Centennial Blue Oval. The blue oval shape was chosen because of its simplicity and elegance. The brand name is written in the middle of the oval. Though the logo is rather simple, it’s one of the most recognizable in the world and is present in almost all collections of cars logos posters.
The company was founded in 1903 by Henry Ford, though his first attempt was made in 1901, when he created the Henry Ford Company. Ford Model T, released in 1908, became the first car of the brand, which received mass recognition. In 1913, Ford introduced the first moving assembly line and thus, made a huge contribution to production of automobiles for the middle-class. From 1920s, the brand constantly worked at car innovations and invented a first car with a safety glass in the windshield, a superconducting quantum interference device or SQUID, a standard deep-dish steering wheel, optional front, rear seatbelts, child-proof door locks and the seat belt reminder light. In 2000s, it started to work at hybrid cars and in 2004, it released Ford Escape Hybrid.
The brand is controlled by Ford family for more than 100 years, though they have only 40% of shares at the moment. Ford is also considered one of the largest family companies in the world while, at the same time, it’s a public company, the shares of which are sold at the New York Stock Exchange.
