Ford Mustang GT Centennial Edition
The Ford Mustang underwent a redesign on December 26, 1998 for the 1999 model year. In addition to fresh styling, the iconic Mustang also received new wheels and hubcaps. Other than the updated exterior, the car had the same roof line and interior, with the same basic platform. As part of the 35th anniversary of the Mustang, Ford produced a limited edition package including body-colored hood scoop, rear spoiler, side scoops and rocker panels as well as black leather and vinyl seats with silver inserts.
Under the hood, the 3.8 liter OHV Essex V6 remained the base engine for 1999. The addition of Intake Manifold Runner Control gave the engine a modest output boost to 190 HP and 225 lb-ft torque. The 3.8 Essex was replaced in 2004 with the 3.9 liter OHV Essex V6 which had the same output. Finally, the 4.0 liter Cologne V6, replaced the 3.9 in 2005.
