Ford Mustang Milano Concept 1970 posters

Ford Mustang Milano Concept

In February 1970, Ford unveiled the wild-looking Mustang Milano concept at the Chicago Auto Show. The two-seat car with its ultra violet paint and nearly-horizontal fastback roof was the most radical Mustang seen to that point. It took its name from the grand touring cars around the northern Italian city of Milano and featured a sloped windshield at a 67-degree angle, an electrically-powered rear decklid, NACA-style ducts in the hood, and an integrated spoiler in the tail. The Milano was mounted on cast-aluminum wheels with a laced design similar to classic wire wheels. Inside, the cockpit featured light purple leather seats with blue-violet cloth inserts and deep purple mohair carpeting. Some elements of the concept appeared on the production Mustang for 1971, while other Ford cars, like the 1974 Falcon XB coupe, also displayed Milano-inspired design cues. Additionally, the car was seen in the Mad Max films, famously driven by the title character.
