Ford Mustang Pony

The 1999 Ford Mustang saw a big redesign from its previous model, bringing Ford's New Edge design language to the car. This new look featured sharper bodylines, larger wheel arches, and contours that replaced many of the soft lines of earlier generations. The Mustang also received new wheel and hubcaps along with a "35th-Anniversary" badge on the front fenders. In addition, 2,318 GT coupes and 2,310 GT convertibles featured a special "35th Anniversary Limited Edition" appearance package. These cars were available in black, silver metallic, white, and red and had special features such as body-colored hood scoop, rear spoiler, side scoops and rocker panels, and a blacked-out panel between the taillamps. The interior featured black leather and vinyl seats with silver inserts and pony logo, aluminum shift knob, a unique instrument cluster with 35th anniversary script, silver and black floor mats with 35th anniversary logo, and silver door trim inserts. The engine under the hood was a 3.8L OHV Essex V6 which provided 190 hp and 220 lb-ft of torque. In 2001, Ford added Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) which increased the engine's output to 193 hp and 225 lb-ft of torque. In 2004, the 3.8L was replaced by a 3.9L OHV Essex V6 with the same output. Finally, in 2005, the 3.9L was replaced by the 4.0L Cologne V6.
