Jaguar F-Type Concept

At the 2000 North American International Auto Show, Jaguar reaped several awards for its cars. The F-Type Concept was honored with the AutoWeek Editors' Award for Best In Show, while the S-TYPE took home recognition from African Americans On Wheels and American Woman Motorscene. Mike Dale, President of Jaguar North America, was additionally honored by African Americans On Wheels at their Fourth Annual Urban Wheel Awards for his work in cultivating diversity. AutoWeek's editors voted for the F-Type Concept based on four main categories - most fun, best concept, most significant, and best in show - and it came out on top. Dutch Mandel, editor and associate publisher of AutoWeek, commented that the F-Type Concept was “everything that is right with Jaguar, and everything that is right with sports cars.” Kevin Wilson, Executive Editor of AutoWeek, added that it was the “sexiest machine on this show floor.” The F-Type Concept, which is the most compact Jaguar sports car to enter the market in more than 40 years, was designed to gauge the public's reaction to a Jaguar roadster. Its unveiling at the Detroit show revealed a new era for the Jaguar brand.
