The S-Class Coupe was developed from the S-Class Saloon of the 126 series, featuring an 85-millimetre shorter frame and floop assembly. Despite the alteration in proportions, the coupe still comfortably seated four adults.
The classic style and design of the S-Class Coupe was thanks to the visionary brilliance of Bruno Sacco, then Head of Design. He incorporated historic features such as the iconic horizontal radiator grill with the large central star - a trademark of the famous 300 SL Gullwing Coupe since the 1950s.
