The brand logo is a three-pointed star, surrounded by a circle. It represents the ambition of Mercedes-Benz of universal motorization – “on land, on water and in the air”.
Karl Benz created the first petrol-powered car in 1886 and just the same year, Daimler converted stagecoach by adding a petrol engine. The history of the brand starts after the merger of the companies of Karl Benz and Gottlieb Daimler into Daimler-Benz in 1926. Later in 1926, the first car under Mercedes-Benz brand name was released. The company introduced many innovations, which later were used by other car brands.
In 1936, Mercedes-Benz 260 D, the first diesel engined series car, was presented. During the Second World War, the plant was ruined. In 1946, the brand returned to business and released its first postwar vehicle ? W136 sedan. By 1950s, 170 and 220 lines cars helped Mercedes-Benz to create a stable base for future development. Mercedes started to work at modern, reliable and, at the same time, affordable vehicle and in 1953, it presented W120 “180”, also known as “Ponton”.
While producing cars, Mercedes-Benz also wanted to renew its race reputation. In 1954, the brand introduced Mercedes-Benz W196, the car, which won Formula 1 two years in a row (in 1954 and 1955). One more legendary model of the brand is Mercedes-Benz 600 or 600S, which has been used by many diplomats and businessmen around the world.
For the last decade, Mercedes-Benz added various modifications to its existing models and introduced the new ones.
