Morgan was established in 1909 by Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan. In 1959, the founder died and his son, Peter, started to rule the company. After his death in 2003, a four-man management team takes care of the company. Since 2011, the company is owned by Morgan Technologies.
In 1909 Henry Frederick Stanley Morgan designed his own car, a two-seat three-wheeler. In 1910, the production of that model started. In 1915, Morgan designed four-seat Morgan Runabout for his family. The vehicle was considered to be a sports car at that time. In 1936, the first four-wheeler, Morgan 4/4, was introduced. In 2011, the company decided to release a three-wheeler again. Morgan 3 Wheeler won “Not-A-Car of the Year 2011” prize in Top Gear.
Morgan cars also took part in numerous races, including Le Mans 24hr race, 2008 Britcar races and the 2008 Britcar 24hrs at Silverstone.
