Rolls-Royce 101EX
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars has announced that a series edition of their two-door, four-seat experimental car, the 101EX, is set to launch in 2008. Production begins next summer, which will be done by hand at their renowned Goodwood plant in England. This vehicle will bring together the Phantom family with the Phantom, Phantom Extended Wheelbase and Phantom Drophead Coupé.
The car will be a two-door, four-seater coupe build off the extraordinary driving experience of the Phantom and Drophead Coupé. It will have an all aluminum construction, similar to the other Phantom models, however, it will be tailored to create the world's premier transcontinental tourer. Power-wise, it is identical to the other Phantoms at 453bhp and 720nm of torque, though the suspension and chassis set-up may be tuned for more driver emphasis.
Rolls-Royce Chief Designer, Ian Cameron, stated, “We wanted to emphasize the performance potential and effortless driving capabilities of the 6.75 litre V12 engine with this car. Despite its strong performance, we wanted to incorporate a bit of 'fizz', as Sir Henry Royce coined it.”
Chairman and Chief Executive, Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, Ian Robertson, shared, “This model is an essential part of the company's history. According to customer reaction, we are positive about its success. Currently, our goal is to meet the high customer demand for the Phantom range and to prepare for any potential new cars.”
The coupe will be priced between the Phantom and Phantom Drophead Coupé. More details will be released in the coming months.
