Saab 9-3 Aero Coupe

The Saab 9-3 is a compact executive car manufactured by the Swedish automaker Saab over two generations (1998-2002/3 and 2003-2012). It was based on the GM2900 platform and subsequently changed to the GM Epsilon platform, which was also used for the Opel Vectra and Cadillac BLS. Originally, it was badged as 93 starting in the 1998 model year, later being advertised as 9-3, and pronounced as "nine three".

The first generation 9-3 (badged 9400) was essentially a 2nd Generation Saab 900 (1994-1997 model) with improved suspension and 1,100 other changes. It featured a black rear spoiler and was available as a three or five-door hatchback, and as a two-door convertible. It was equipped with the Saab's H engine and featured side impact airbags with head protection and active headrests. The 9-3 continued the Saab safety tradition of performing a moose test.
