Suzuki Swift VVT 2005 posters

Suzuki Swift VVT

The Suzuki Swift VVT is a redesigned model that was announced in September 2004 to compete with popular models like the Peugeot 206, Opel Corsa, and Fiat Punto. The VVT is a global car that is available with 1.3 and 1.5 L engines and comes in both 3- and 5-door body styles. This is the first Suzuki model where Indian engineers designed a car to compete with other cars around the world. This design was previewed on the Concept S and Concept S2 concept cars at various auto shows leading up to its launch. The Swift has a similar shape to a BMW MINI, giving it a blacked-out A-pillar and a bump-car stance. It has been dubbed a "1.5 box" for its unique shape. The Swift is solely designed by Suzuki, and is not based on the GM Gamma platform, making this model very impressive. Autocar magazine gave the Swift a 4/5 star rating for its "thoroughly impressive all-rounder" and a 4 out of 5 EURO NCAP crash test rating. Standard features on the Swift include a leather steering wheel, dual air-bag, ABS with EBD, front disk brakes and rear drum brakes, a sliding storage unit under the passenger seat, and a single CD player. Since its worldwide launch in 2005, the Mk4 Swift has seen record-breaking sales, including a doubling of forecasted sales in Japan. Sales in India have also been successful, with a majority of components being made locally. These healthy sales have contributed to the Maruti corporation's 64% rise in Q1 profits, and the Swift has a waiting period in India of at least 3 months.
