Automobile Dacia S.A. is a Romanian automobile manufacturer, a subsidiary of French Renault. It’s headquartered in Mioveni, Arges County. The company’s name was taken after the name of the historic region of Romania, Dacia. more
Dacia logo is a stylized “D” letter on its side in silver grey color. The brand name is written on it in blue. You can see the images of the Dacia logo on numerous posters, located at the offices of both Renault and Dacia.
The company was established in 1966 as Uzina de Autoturisme Pitesti. It licensed Renault 8 in 1968 and produced it under Dacia 1100 brand. It was the first Dacia vehicle. In 1969, simultaneously with Renault R12, Dacia presented its 1300 model at the Paris and Bucharest shows. The model was rather successful because of its modernity and reliability. It was the base for many other vehicles of the brand.
In 1999, Dacia was bought by Renault group. In 2004, Dacia Logan was introduced. It is the most successful car of the brand since the 1300 model, which soon became one of the best-selling cars in Central and Eastern Europe. It’s also one of the cheapest cars for its size. In addition, the car achieved a three-star rating at the EuroNCAP crash tests. In 2005, Dacia Logan got Autobest Car of the Year award. In 2011, another Dacia model, Dacia Duster also got this award.
At the moment, Dacia is the largest Romanian exporter and is one of the biggest car manufacturers in Europe.
