Porshe logo is based on the coat of arms of the Free People's State of Wurttemberg, the capital of which was Stuttgart. The coat of arms of Stuttgart is also used in the emblem and is located in the centre.
The company was created in 1931 in Austria by engineer Ferdinand Porsche. Later, the company’s headquarters moved to Stuttgart, Germany. In the beginning, Porshe didn’t build cars but just did development and consulting work. In 1938, the company received a task to build a car for the people. It designed Volkswagen Beetle, which became one of the most successful car designs of all time. In 1939, Porshe released the first car under its own brand, Porsche 64.
In 1996, as soon as Porsche 986 Boxster was released, it became a new face of the marquee. Later, 986 Boxster S appeared and was the leader of sales till 2002 when Porsche 955 Cayenne, the most extravagant model in the history of the brand, was presented and immediately became the top selling product of the brand. The Cayenne shared its chassis with the Volkswagen Touareg and the Audi Q7. In 2009, famous Panamera S and Panamera Turbo models were introduced to the market. In 2010, Porshe cars were named the most reliable in the world. Having cooperated with Volkswagen since the first days its creation, in 2013 Porshe became its subsidiary.
In addition, Porshe is the most successful brand in car races with about 28 000 victories, including 16 in the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Porshe is also the largest race car manufacturer in the world, which builds cars for various international races.
