The first Humvee vehicle was designed by AM General in 1979. In 1982, Humvees started to be used by the US Army. In 1992, the first civilian model of the M998 Humvee appeared under the name of Hummer H1.
In 1999, AM General sold Hummer brand name to General Motors, however it continued to produce cars while GM dealt with marketing and distribution issues. A bit later, GM introduced its own designs of the vehicle, H2 and H3.
In 2010, GM ceased the production Hummer cars because of the bankruptcy. The brand was almost sold to Chinese corporation Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery, but the deal wasn’t concluded. In 2015 the company launched HMMWV V1 Gorilla production.
