The brand’s logo consists of word “FIAT” in a red background in the form of a shield. The color of the background used to be blue, but in 2006, the logo was modified. The circle shape was also replaced with the shield one. On the net, you can find various photos and posters, depicting all the variants of Fiat emblems since its creation.
Fiat was created as Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino in 1899 by Giovanni Agnelli and a group of investors. Just the same year, the brand released its first car, 3 ? CV. In 1906, the company’s name was shortened to Fiat. In 1910, Fiat became the biggest automaker in Italy and opened a new plant in the USA. By 1925, it controlled 87% of the Italian car market.
In 1979, Fiat became a holding company, creating several autonomous companies. In 1986, Fiat bought Alfa Romeo, in 1993 ? Maserati and in 2009 ? Chrysler. Since 2011, Fiat Group got divided into Fiat SpA and Fiat Industrial. In its turn, Fiat Industrial consists of “IVECO” (produces trucks and buses), “Fiat Professional” (produces trucks Fiat Ducato) and “CNH Global” (deals with agricultural and construction equipment). In 2014, it became a part of Fiat Chrysler Automobiles NV company.
Besides cars, Fiat also produced railway engines and carriages, military vehicles, farm tractors, and aircraft. Now, it also deals with commercial vehicles and its positions are rather strong in this sphere.
The brand won the European Car of the Year award 12 times, more than any other car manufacturer.
