The company’s slogans, which you can see almost on every their poster, are “The Ultimate Driving Machine” and “Sheer Driving Pleasure”.
The company was founded in 1916 by Karl Rapp as a plant, producing aircraft engines. In 1929, the company's logo started to be explained as an aircraft propeller with the white blades cutting through a blue sky. However, white and blue colors are also used because these are the colors of the Bavarian flag.
In 1923, BMW produced its first motorcycle and in 1929 the first car, called Dixi. At the same time, the planes with BMW engines set numerous world records.
During the Second World War, the company has numerous hardships. And only in 1951, BMW released its first postwar car, 501. In 1959, model 700 became the first serial success for BMW cars and the company started to develop very fast. In 1995, legendary BMW Z8 was presented. Later, it appeared in one of the movies about James Bond.
In 2012, Forbes.com called BMW the most reputable company in the world. Now, it produces almost all types of cars like hatchbacks, sedans, crossovers, roadsters, coupes, SAVs, convertible, sports and even all-electric cars. Despite being one of the best-selling luxury automakers in the world, BMW doesn’t rest on its laurels and continues to work hard at new models and technologies.
BMW doesn’t only produce vehicles in Germany. It has subsidiaries in Brazil, Canada, China, Egypt, India, Japan, Mexico, South Africa and United States.
The company also cares about the environment and is a member of numerous environmentalist organizations. It works at creation of less-polluting cars and environmentally friendly fuels.
